Our pilgrimage with Christ is filled with joys and sorrows. It is a path led by the Good Shepherd, and each journey is unique. The journey of our Christian Life is not meant to be undertaken alone. If you are feeling lost or alone in your wilderness wanderings, I am here to shine a light of hope to your path.
In the great allegory Pilgrim's Progress, Hopeful accompanies Christian on his journey. When Christian finds himself locked away by Giant Despair in Doubting Castle, it is Hopeful who encourages him to remember his journey, the obstacles he's overcome, and the key of promise he already holds to unlock his prison door.
While there are many helpful descriptions of the ancient Christian practice of spiritual direction, this is the image that resonates with me. In a spiritual direction conversation, we seek the Holy Spirit together as we consider the circumstances of your life and what invitations God has for you in this season.
